Iceland’s Progress Party in Garðabær introduces new leader
The Progress Party (Framsókn) in Garðabær, southwest Iceland, has appointed a new local chairperson. The announcement was made during a party meeting on Monday evening.
The new leader, whose name has not yet been disclosed in public reports, takes over as the party prepares for upcoming municipal elections. The change in leadership follows a period of internal restructuring within the local branch.
Framsókn, a centrist agrarian and liberal party, holds seats in both Garðabær’s municipal council and Iceland’s national parliament, Alþingi. The party has historically been a key political force in rural and suburban communities.
