Halla Tómasdóttir and Mary Robinson speak at community event in Grindavík

Around 400 people gathered at Grindavík Church this evening for a community event where Halla Tómasdóttir delivered a speech alongside Mary Robinson, the first female president of Ireland. Robinson served as president from 1990 to 1997 and attended the event as a friend of Tómasdóttir.

During her speech, Halla Tómasdóttir acknowledged the efforts of all rescuers involved in the recent disasters affecting the area. She expressed her awareness of the significant challenges faced by residents who have lost their homes and the town itself. Tómasdóttir commended the people of Grindavík for facing these hardships with dignity and remarkable strength.
