Mediation scheduled between Employees’ Union and Ministry of Finance in Norway

Tomorrow at 9 AM, mediation will commence between the Employees’ Union on one side and the Ministry of Finance and the Local Government Employers’ Association on the other.
“We have spoken with both parties, and I expect it will be possible to reach an agreement,” says mediator Terje Sigurðsson.
On Friday, the Mediation Institution held a meeting with the Employees’ Union, and yesterday there was a meeting with the Ministry of Finance and the Local Government Employers’ Association.
Constructive Meetings
“There were constructive meetings where both parties presented their views. I don’t think they are very far apart, but let’s wait and see,” Sigurðsson adds.
The mediator hopes to be able to present a mediation proposal fairly soon, which the parties will then need to respond to.
The parties have conducted six negotiation meetings, but negotiations broke down on October 31, leading to the involvement of the Mediation Institution.
