Weather changes are on the horizon for Finland next week. This weekend’s snow and sleet in southern Finland will move southeast by Sunday evening, making way for a gentle breeze from the west that brings warmer-than-average temperatures to the country.

On Monday, the weather will clear up, with widespread sunshine expected. However, meteorologist Matti Huutonen warns that roads could still be deceptively slippery on Monday morning due to nighttime freezes, which can cause wet and slushy conditions to ice over. While temperatures in Lapland remain below freezing, most of the rest of the country will experience slightly above-zero temperatures.

The wind will feel chilly throughout the country, making it feel somewhat colder. Huutonen notes that overall, the weather next week is expected to be calmer compared to the disturbances of the past weekend.

A weather front will slice through Finland, effectively dividing the country on Tuesday, bringing milder and wetter conditions to the west while the east remains around zero or even below freezing. By Wednesday, the mild air will spread across the nation, raising temperatures above zero.

On Wednesday and particularly sunny Thursday, temperatures in southern Finland may reach as high as ten degrees Celsius, while areas in North Ostrobothnia and Central Finland can expect around seven degrees. Even in Lapland, temperatures will rise several degrees above freezing.
