Bára Gísladóttir to premiere first full-length opera in Berlin

Bára Gísladóttir’s first full-length opera, Good Vibes Only, will premiere at Deutsche Oper Berlin on January 22, 2027, mbl.is reports. The opera was commissioned by the Berlin opera house.

The work explores the digital age and the effects of social media on human behaviour and emotional life. It uses real social media posts to highlight the daily flood of information, combining different vocal styles with orchestral music and electronic sounds.

Joris Lacoste wrote the text and will direct the production. Titus Engel will conduct. Musicians include Björg Brjánsdóttir and Skúli Sverrisson.
