Today in Jyväskylä’s Kuokkala district, a bustling moving day unfolded as residents relocated to a newly completed complex of five wooden apartment buildings. Although the first building was finished over a year ago, it remained unoccupied until all five structures were completed to ensure safety, as the evacuation area for the tightly-knit complex was under construction.
The doors to the apartments opened at noon, attracting a significant crowd. Residents expressed their excitement about the move. Pertti Kuivalainen shared his positive feelings, while Mauri Pitkänen mentioned the plan to take turns using the elevator. Auli Bogdanoff, assisting her sister with the move, anticipated a long evening of unpacking.
Of the five buildings, four were developed by the Yrjö and Hanna Foundation, with the fifth offering both right-to-occupy and senior living apartments. Construction manager Harri Häll noted that approximately one hundred apartments received new tenants on this major moving day. He believes this collective move will foster a sense of community as residents meet and get to know one another.
The event exemplifies a significant milestone in housing development within the region, contributing to local camaraderie as new neighbors settle into their homes.
