The Tórshavn Municipality is currently exploring suitable solutions for accommodating students should the decision be made to demolish the Hoyvíkar School and construct a new facility.
One option mentioned is the old secondary school in Hoydølum, although it is too early to draw any conclusions, according to Heini Gaard, head of the Education Department in Tórshavn.
This academic year, 349 students are enrolled at Hoyvíkar School. The municipality has invested several million kroner in renovations to the aging school over the years. However, no cost estimates have yet been prepared, as the municipality is uncertain about the expenses involved in demolishing the current school and building a new one.
