Snorri Másson and Sigríður Á. Andersen will lead the Center Party’s candidate lists for the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections in Reykjavik. Snorri, a journalist and author, has previously worked for Morgunblaðið and Stöð 2, and he also hosts his own podcast and runs a media platform called Ritstjórinn. Sigríður, a former Minister of Justice and member of the Independence Party, will lead the list in the northern Reykjavik constituency after serving as a substitute member of parliament from 2008 and being a full member from 2015 to 2021.

In both lists, Jakob Frímann Magnússon, who recently left the People’s Party, is in second place. He joined the Center Party before the announcement. The third spot in the southern constituency is held by Fjóla Hrund Björnsdóttir, head of the parliamentary group, while Hilmar Garðars Þorsteinsson, a lawyer, takes the fourth place.

In the northern constituency, Sigríður is joined by Jakob in second place. Bessí Þóra Jónsdóttir, a doctoral candidate in behavioral economics, ranks third, followed by businessman Einar Jóhannes Guðnason. Vigdís Hauksdóttir, a former member of parliament and city councilor, occupies an honorary position on the list.

The Center Party has also published its candidate list for the southern constituency, led by Karl Gauti Hjaltason, a former MP and police chief in Vestmannaeyjar. He is followed by Heiðbrá Ólafsdóttir, a lawyer and farmer, with Ólafur Ísleifsson, a former member of parliament, returning in third place, and Kristófer Máni Sigursveinsson, a foreman, taking the fourth position. The electoral campaign is gearing up as the political landscape prepares for the elections.
