The Icelandic government meeting commenced at 4 PM, with ministers from the Left-Green Movement attending despite announcing yesterday that they would not participate in a working government led by Bjarni Benediktsson. A proposal concerning the allocation of ministries will be presented at the meeting.

All ministers from the outgoing coalition government, which offered their resignations yesterday, were summoned to this meeting. This includes the Left-Green ministers, who had previously declared their decision to step away from the interim government led by Benediktsson.

Bjarni Benediktsson, the Prime Minister, stated that the government remains unchanged as no adjustments have been made to the presidential decree. Discussions will be held regarding a new distribution of responsibilities among the ministers.

Svandís Svavarsdóttir, the Minister of Infrastructure, explained that her presence is due to procedural matters and emphasized that it was not unconventional for the Left-Green ministers to declare themselves regular parliamentarians starting today.

Bjarkey Olsen Gunnarsdóttir, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, confirmed she always knew she would continue as a minister, although it may have confused the Prime Minister. Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson noted he believes this meeting was called to clarify the status of the ministers.

Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson, chairman of the Progressive Party and Minister of Finance, remained tight-lipped before the meeting, indicating that it would become clear whether he would be assigned new tasks during the discussions.
