Man remanded in custody on homicide suspicion in Nilsiä, Kuopio

A man in his 70s has been remanded in custody by the North Savo District Court on probable grounds for suspicion of homicide related to a weekend incident in Nilsiä, Kuopio. The man is suspected of killing his partner, also in her 70s, at their private residence last Saturday around 8 PM.

According to the police, the victim and the suspect were a couple. Emergency services received a report of the homicide at the private residence on Saturday. Police officers discovered the body of the 70-year-old woman at the scene.

The suspect was apprehended near the location around 9 PM the same evening. The charges against him include manslaughter, aggravated violation of domestic peace, and preparation for a serious crime against life or health. The deadline for filing formal charges is January 24, 2025.
