Court to decide whether Bakkafrost charges are time-barred

Bakkafrost, courts, faroe islands

The prosecution and Bakkafrost are due in the Court of the Faroe Islands today as judges consider whether charges against the company are time-barred, KVF reports.

Bakkafrost has been charged with six breaches of transport regulations in 2020. The prosecution says the company moved goods without permission from the Food and Veterinary Authority. All the transports took place in Suðuroy.

A separate transport from Froðba to Porkeri had been authorised but was not recorded in the transport logbook. That matter will not be heard today.

Bakkafrost’s defence lawyer argues that the cases are too old to be prosecuted. The court will rule on that issue.
