A Reykjavík district court’s decision to extend custody for a man involved in a significant drug trafficking case has been upheld by the Landsréttur court today. The individual, in his thirties, faces charges related to the organized import and sale of narcotics alongside 17 other defendants.

The suspect has been in custody since April 12, with the latest ruling permitting his detention to continue until September 27. Last week, the district court noted that in light of the case’s complexity, and at the request of the defendant’s lawyer, the primary hearing has been postponed by a month, now scheduled for the end of October.
