New law reduces unemployment benefits in Sweden

Monday 2nd 2024 on 00:48 in
Finland

A new law taking effect today will reduce the unemployment benefits for those who become unemployed. The unemployment benefit will decrease in two stages as unemployment extends. The first reduction, amounting to 20%, will occur after approximately two months of unemployment. Additionally, access to these unemployment benefits will become more difficult as the work requirement for eligibility will extend to one year. This reform will not affect individuals who are already receiving unemployment benefits prior to the law’s implementation.
