Finnish individual linked to riots in Southport investigated for far-right connections and online threats
A Finnish individual, who played a central role in organizing riots in Southport, UK, was already showing interest in far-right ideologies as a teenager. This information has emerged from police investigation materials related to a criminal inquiry that began in 2020. Initially, he was suspected of preparing a serious crime against life or health, but this charge was later downgraded to illegal threats. Ultimately, the police concluded that he had not committed the crime he was accused of.
In the fall of 2020, police received a report about a threat made by him on the Telegram app while he was still a minor living with his family. The police acted swiftly, arriving at their home with two patrols shortly after midnight. The young man was taken in for questioning, and his devices were confiscated. He confessed to being angry about bullying against a family member, which prompted him to threaten retaliation and share his threats on the Telegram channel of a known far-right streamer.
During the police interview, investigators were interested in his online activities, particularly images related to Nazi themes found on his devices. He admitted to spending time on a popular site associated with far-right ideologies and stated he was involved with a Russian far-right Telegram channel. Despite the investigation, he continued to post violent content online, advocating for extreme actions against Jews, gaining increased notoriety following the recent riots in the UK.
Legal experts believe his activities may lead to criminal investigations in both the UK and Finland, as he remains a Finnish citizen with known connections to African ancestry on one parent’s side.
