Tuborg Christmas beer draws crowds as snow falls in Reykjavík

Saturday 7th November 2026 on 09:15 in Iceland

Christmas beer, J-day, reykjavik

Large crowds gathered in central Reykjavík yesterday as snow fell on J-Day, mbl.is reported. At 8:59 p.m., Tuborg Christmas beer began flowing from taps across the city.

J-Day originated in Denmark and has become one of Iceland’s most popular Christmas traditions among beer lovers. This year brought two beers: the classic Tuborg Julebryg and the return of Tuborg Lille Jul, a lighter, gluten-free Christmas beer developed by brewers at Ölgerðin.

Many people gathered outside Den Danske Kro, a pub in central Reykjavík. Blue Tuborg Santa hats were also widely seen.
