The new mobile phone and internet policy at Glasi school is facing mixed reactions from students.

The new regulations mean that students are no longer allowed to keep their phones with them during classes, and the school’s internet access has been restricted to prevent students from accessing certain websites during school hours.

Bjørg Brynhildardóttir Egholm, a representative in the student council, believes the rules infringe on individual responsibility. While the student council understands the need for such measures, Egholm suggests that the school has other tools at its disposal, such as the option to send students out of class and issue a warning if they are not paying attention.

Egholm criticizes the principal’s comparison of the school environment to a workplace, arguing that employers do not take phones away from employees or impose restrictions on internet use.

Before the implementation of the new rules, the student council was given the opportunity to voice their opinions on the proposed changes. According to Egholm, there is significant discontent among students regarding the restrictions.
