The incoming chair of the Nordic Council’s youth council, UNR, will focus on whether the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland should have independent membership in the Nordic Council, KVF reported.
Jóhannis Erlendsson will take over as chair next year. He said UNR has consistently advocated for independent membership for the three territories.
If the issue is not resolved this time, the Faroe Islands should consider its position in Nordic cooperation, Erlendsson said. He added that this view is also held within the Faroese political system.
