Centre Party leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist will report to Sweden’s Speaker of Parliament at 10 a.m. on her efforts to find a basis for a government, SVT reports.

Ringqvist received the exploratory assignment from Speaker Andreas Norlén last Monday. During the past week, she has met with all party leaders to discuss the prospects for a centrist government.

She has said she would like a government made up of the Centre Party, the Greens, the Social Democrats, the Liberals and the Christian Democrats. If the Speaker judges that a government can be formed, he may propose a candidate for prime minister for Parliament to vote on.

Parliament rejected Social Democrat Magdalena Andersson as a prime ministerial candidate in mid-October. Before Ringqvist received the assignment, Andersson had failed to form a government after two rounds of talks. If Ringqvist also fails to secure enough support, the Speaker will give the assignment to someone else, but has not yet decided whom.
