Man dies in fire at three-apartment building on Amtmannsstíg in Reykjavík

A man in his seventies has died in a fire at a three-apartment building on Amtmannsstíg in Reykjavík this morning. The man was residing in the apartment where the fire broke out. Firefighters were informed that someone was inside the unit and made it their first priority to rescue him upon arrival. He was transported to the emergency room at Landspítali, where he was later pronounced dead.

The fire was reported shortly after 9 AM, and firefighting efforts concluded around 11 AM. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the blaze.
