Fault cuts 800 MW Finland Sweden power link for a week

A technical fault has taken the Fenno-Skan 2 electricity transmission link between Finland and Sweden out of service, Yle reported.

The fault was detected at the Rauma electrical substation, and the link was disconnected shortly after noon on Monday, Finland’s transmission system operator Fingrid said.

Fingrid estimates that repairs will take about a week. During the work, Fenno-Skan 2’s 800 megawatt transmission capacity will be unavailable to the electricity market.

The Rauma substation also experienced a technical fault earlier this year. The transmission link consists of an undersea cable and substations at both ends.
