Outokumpu Oyj has appointed Kati ter Horst as the company’s new CEO on Tuesday. Ter Horst is joining Outokumpu from Belgian water management solutions provider Aliaxis S.A., where she has managed the EMEA business group since 2022.

Before Aliaxis, Kati ter Horst had a lengthy career at Stora Enso, where she most recently headed the paper business. During ter Horst’s time at Stora Enso, the decision was made to close the Veitsiluoto factories in Kemi and the Kvarnsveden factories in Sweden.

Ter Horst also has experience with Outokumpu, where she has served as a board member since 2016 and vice-chairman since 2022. Due to her new CEO position, she will step down from the board at the end of September 2024.

“Kati ter Horst has strong credentials in the process industry and extensive international experience in leadership roles in complex business environments. The company’s board is convinced that she is the right person to lead Outokumpu moving forward,” commented Kari Jordan, Chairman of the Outokumpu Board.

Kati ter Horst will begin her role as CEO of Outokumpu no later than October 9, and her future office will be at Outokumpu’s headquarters in Helsinki.

Outokumpu’s Tornio steel factory is the largest in Europe.
