Police seize significant drug shipments linked to online sales in Sweden
Police have recently seized a significant amount of drugs linked to online sales, amid rising demand that has allowed individuals to receive substances delivered to their doorsteps in under ten minutes. Over the past few days and weeks, authorities have confiscated dozens of kilograms of narcotics. The market for cannabis has been particularly robust, leading to an increase in imports.
The ease of purchasing drugs online has created a booming market, with police emphasizing that the process resembles traditional delivery services—users can order online and have their drugs delivered quickly. In terms of quantities, the seizures reported include around 30 kilograms of cannabis, both locally grown and imported, approximately 1,000 MDMA tablets, and around five kilograms of amphetamines, as well as smaller amounts of cocaine and various vaping products.
Authorities have noted a marked increase in cannabis imports, particularly from Canada, a development that was rare in previous years. Officials believe that while domestic supply was sufficient for many years, the recent trend indicates a notable shift, with significant quantities arriving from abroad.
Despite ongoing seizures and efforts to disrupt supply channels, street prices for drugs have remained stable, suggesting a substantial demand. The revenue generated from these online sales is considerable, with reported profits reaching as high as 30 million. This growing market for drugs is prompting law enforcement to intensify their efforts against it.
