Both harbours in Svínoy need improved safety before a new ferry arrives, Kringvarp Føroya (KVF) reports. Frímund Hansen, a local ferry dispatcher, said the harbours at Eiði and Vík must both be upgraded.
However, the priorities of Strandfaraskip Landsins, the national ferry service, are different. Its director, Dánjal Samuelsen, said it would be better to receive a new Ritan ferry than for nothing to happen.
KVF’s programme Dagur og vika includes interviews with Hansen and Samuelsen about the harbour conditions and the ferry service.
