Jón Steinar urges Iceland to seek dismissal of EFTA case
Lawyer Jón Steinar Gunnlaugsson says Iceland’s main defence in a case brought against it by the EFTA Surveillance Authority should be to seek dismissal, which he says would end the proceedings. The view was reported by mbl.is.
In an opinion piece published in Morgunblaðið, Jón Steinar writes that Icelandic procedural law requires a court to hear a defendant’s request for dismissal orally before considering the substance of the case. He says, to the best of his knowledge, a similar rule applies in other courts.
