Finland, rainfall, weather

Rain will shape much of this week’s weather in Finland, particularly in the north and central parts of the country, Yle reported, citing meteorologist Henriikka Heikinoja.

Western Finland will be drier, although isolated showers are still possible there. New rain is also reaching other parts of Europe with low-pressure systems, easing the most intense heat in central Europe.

On Tuesday afternoon, the low-pressure system over Finland will weaken and gradually move west. Rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected in central Finland and across much of Lapland, while northernmost Lapland will remain drier. Southern and central parts of the country will also be mainly dry, though isolated showers may develop. Temperatures will generally rise to between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius.

Rain will ease somewhat towards Tuesday evening. Western Finland will have clear conditions, while cloud cover may break up in the north and east. The risk of ground frost will be elevated in the west.

A new low-pressure system with rain will approach southeastern Finland on Wednesday and move diagonally north in the following days. The rainfall may be heavy. In Lapland, rain will be lighter and mainly occur as showers. Western Finland will be partly dry and sunny, despite isolated showers.

By Thursday, the low-pressure system from the east will move into central Finland, bringing continued rain to central and northern parts of the country. Southern Finland may see light showers, while a broad area in central Finland will remain drier.
