Reykjavik Marathon organisers announce live broadcast

The Íslandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon will be broadcast live on Sjónvarp Símans and the race’s YouTube channel on Saturday, mbl.is reports.

The broadcast will begin at 8am and will cover all race start times. It will also include an interview with Reykjavík Mayor Hildur Björnsdóttir, who will start the race.

Birna María Másdóttir and Ingvar Örn Ákason will provide commentary and interview competitors, supporters and winners while maintaining the atmosphere during the broadcast.

Hrefna Hlín Sveinbjörnsdóttir, event manager at ÍBR, said the broadcast would give people who cannot attend in person an opportunity to follow the event and experience its atmosphere from home or on their phones.
