Iceland, road conditions, weather

Slippery conditions are widespread on roads across Iceland, and motorists are being urged to take extreme care, mbl.is reports.

Ice has formed in the capital region after temperatures fell below freezing overnight. The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration’s traffic website, umferdin.is, reports slush on the Sandskeid, Sudurstrandarvegur and Krysuvikurvegur roads, with icy patches on most routes in southwest Iceland.

Conditions are extremely slippery on Myrdalssandur. Dettifossvegur is covered in snow, while driving is difficult on eastern Hellisheidi in northeast Iceland. There is also ice on Fjardarheidi and icy patches on roads in many parts of East Iceland.
