Man appeals sexual abuse conviction to Supreme Court

A man in his 30s is appealing a sexual abuse conviction from Agder Court of Appeal to Norway’s Supreme Court, NRK reports, citing Telemarksavisa.

The man was sentenced this summer to five and a half years in prison for abusing several boys whom he had taught and coached.

His defence lawyer, Ole Petter Drevland, told the newspaper that his client maintains he is innocent. The appeal concerns the sentence and what the defence says are inadequate grounds for the judgment.

The prosecution is not appealing the ruling from Agder Court of Appeal.
