The Finnish Defence Forces have imposed temporary restrictions on air and maritime traffic in the eastern Gulf of Finland, the agency announced on social media platform X early Friday.
The restrictions took effect at 02:46 local time as a precaution to ensure civilian safety and secure conditions for authorities to counter possible drone activity, according to the Defence Forces.
FinTraffic’s maritime warning states that the sea area off Kotka is closed, bounded to the west by Kaunissaari, to the north by the Port of Hamina, and to the east and south by the territorial waters limit.
