Vantaan SDP demands full review of Kivistö arena financing

Vantaan SDP, the Social Democratic Party in Vantaa, has called for a thorough examination of the financing arrangements for the planned Kivistö arena project after reports linked a key figure behind the initiative to suspected fraud cases.

The party’s council group chair Soile Eriksson said the financing package must be scrutinised to eliminate any irregularities. “The entire funding structure now needs to be combed through carefully, and every possible flaw in the financing must be exposed,” Eriksson stated in a press release.

While Vantaan SDP views the arena project positively, Eriksson emphasised that no uncertainty about its completion can be tolerated. “If doubts remain, the approach to the project must be reassessed,” she said.

Vantaa’s mayor Pekka Timonen told Yle on Wednesday that the project could proceed. The city is involved only as the landlord, Timonen noted.
