Second barrack at Faroese military museum restored

The second barrack at the Faroese military museum has been rebuilt, completing a project that will allow the facility to operate year-round starting next autumn, museum director Karl Jóhan Nielsen said.

The original concrete structure, known as the S-O-R building, has housed the museum since the end of the Second World War, when British troops stationed on the islands left behind military installations. A second, attached barrack has now been restored to match the first, Nielsen told KVF.

The restoration work was completed in time for Ólavsøka, the Faroese national holiday, which begins on July 27.
