Danish police prepare for Polish fans as AGF hosts Lech Poznań

Danish police have prepared for the arrival of Polish supporters as AGF Aarhus hosts Polish club Lech Poznań in a Champions League qualifier on Tuesday evening.

Østjyllands Politi, the regional police force covering eastern Jutland, has been coordinating with Polish authorities to manage potential risks during the match at Ceres Park in Randers. Polish police, who have detailed knowledge of Lech Poznań’s fanbase, will assist Danish officers in identifying troublemakers and monitoring crowd behavior.

“We have been in close contact with the Polish authorities, including their police, who know Lech Poznań’s fans well,” said Brian Voss Olsen, a police inspector at Østjyllands Politi. “They will help us spot agitators, and we have specialized units ready to respond if incidents occur.”

The police plan includes escorting fan groups to the stadium and deploying trained personnel to handle disturbances. While high-profile Danish derbies often draw extra scrutiny, officials say there is no indication this match will escalate to the same level.

“Based on current intelligence, we do not expect the same intensity as a match between AGF and Brøndby,” Voss Olsen said.
