Motorcyclist dies in collision in Kitee

A 75-year-old man died and a 60-year-old woman was seriously injured when a motorcycle collided with a car in Kitee on Saturday morning, police said.

The crash occurred on Kantatie 70 near the intersection with Lamminrannantie. The motorcyclist was traveling southbound on the highway when his bike struck the front of a car turning onto Lamminrannantie from the opposite direction.

Police reported that the speed limit on the road section is 60 km/h and that weather conditions were good at the time of the incident. The driver of the car was unharmed. Emergency services were present at the scene to manage traffic.

Police have launched a preliminary investigation to determine the cause of the collision.
