Finnish president begins summer residency at Kultaranta estate
Finnish President Alexander Stubb and his spouse Suzanne Innes-Stubb arrived Friday at the Kultaranta estate in Naantali, marking the start of their annual summer residency, state broadcaster Yle reports.
The city of Naantali welcomed the presidential couple with a traditional reception at the marina’s Presidential Pier, attended by a large public gathering. Stubb will conduct official duties primarily from Kultaranta during the summer months.
The season’s highlight will be the Kultaranta Talks, hosted by Stubb on June 11–12, under the theme “Global, regional, and local perspectives on world transformation.” The event will bring together over 100 politicians and international policy experts.
Kultaranta’s park will also host the Growth sculpture exhibition, open to the public until August 30. Organized with the Alfred Kordelin Foundation and the WAM Contemporary Art Museum, the display features works by five sculptors exploring human development, nature’s vitality, and coexistence.
Built in 1916 as a granite castle by agronomist Alfred Kordelin and designed by architect Lars Sonck, Kultaranta has served as the president’s summer residence since 1920. The estate includes a sprawling park and a functional garden. A major renovation of the main building and grounds was completed in October 2024.
