Man dies after collision at Kotka powerboat race

A man died on Saturday evening after two boats competing in a powerboat race collided in Kotka, Yle reports, citing the Southeast Finland Police Department.

Police said one racing boat drove over another. The adult driver of the boat that was struck suffered injuries in the collision and later died at the scene.

Police currently have no reason to suspect a crime. The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
