Finnish court sentences elderly man to over eight years for aggravated child rape

A district court in Satakunta has sentenced a man in his 70s to more than eight years in prison for aggravated rape of a child and other serious sexual offences committed between 2021 and 2024, Finnish broadcaster Yle reports.

The defendant has been in custody since November 2023. The court ordered the verdict to remain classified for 60 years, citing the sensitive nature of the case.

The ruling is not yet final and may be appealed to higher courts.
