The Meyer Werft shipyard has signed a contract for a new Disney cruise ship. The Oriental Land Company, which operates Disney theme parks in Japan, placed the order with the German shipyard company. The cruise ship will be built at Meyer’s Papenburg shipyard. The German Meyer Group also has a shipyard in Turku, Finland.

Recently, there have been reports of serious financial difficulties for the shipyard company, which also puts pressure on the Turku shipyard. New ship projects are now critically important for the shipyard company.

The new ship is set to be delivered in 2028 and is expected to begin operations in early 2029.
