The birch pollen season in Finland has been significantly weaker than usual, according to Sanna Pätsi, a project researcher at the University of Turku’s pollen monitoring service. Meanwhile, alder and hazel pollen levels have remained close to normal.

Data from the University of Turku shows birch trees are currently flowering in most parts of the country. In southern Lapland, the season is just beginning, whereas in southern and central Finland, the peak has already passed.

The grass pollen season is expected to start in southern Finland within the next two weeks, though it is still unclear how intense it will be.
