Swedish government prepares crisis package amid Middle East tensions
The Swedish government is finalising a crisis support package targeting agriculture and aviation, with plans to present it to parliament before summer, SVT Nyheter reports, citing Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
The measures come as Sweden revises down its growth forecasts, with rising oil and fertiliser prices—linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict—identified as key economic pressures last week. A government press conference on “further actions against the global energy crisis” is scheduled for 11:30 AM local time, featuring Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson, Energy and Business Minister Ebba Busch, Environment Minister Johan Britz, and Martin Kinnunen.
Earlier this month, Svantesson announced a downgrade to Sweden’s economic growth projections. The government has not yet detailed the scope or funding of the proposed crisis package.
