Finnish teacher accidentally shares topless photo with students on Snapchat
A female teacher in Kemiönsaaren municipality unintentionally posted a topless photo to her Snapchat story, where at least two of her high school students saw it, reports Svenska Yle.
The teacher, who remains unnamed, told the broadcaster she had intended to send the photo privately to her husband after a long workweek. Instead, she mistakenly added it to her public Snapchat story, where seven people—including two students from her school—viewed it before she removed it.
She had previously added students as contacts on the platform to provide them with low-threshold support, but has since removed them. The image spread further after someone took a screenshot and shared it.
The teacher described being deeply distressed by the incident, saying she has struggled to eat or sleep since. She also condemned the online backlash, calling the judgment she has faced “unbelievable.” She is now considering legal action against adults who shared the image.
Kemiönsaaren municipality confirmed in a statement that the photo was posted accidentally and was not intentionally sent to students. The local education director, Marjaana Hoikkala, said the school has discussed the matter with the teacher, students, and parents. Students concerned by the incident have been encouraged to contact school counselors or coaches.
