Major Finnish amusement parks keep wristband prices stable, only one raises fees
Most of Finland’s largest amusement parks will maintain or even slightly lower their unlimited ride wristband prices this summer, despite economic pressures, Yle reports. Only Tykkimäki in Kouvola will increase its fees by €1, while Linnanmäki in Helsinki introduces a new €5 entry fee for visitors without a wristband or ride ticket.
Park operators cite financial strain on families as the key reason for holding prices steady. “Especially for families with children, the economic situation is very difficult, and with other living costs rising, it was crucial for us to keep ticket prices unchanged,” said Satu Järvelä, CEO of Linnanmäki.
Särkänniemi in Tampere is reducing its gate-price wristband by €1 to €52, while online purchases remain at €51. “We’re trying to keep the park accessible to as many people as possible,” said Eeva Muurimäki, Särkänniemi’s business director. The wristband includes access to the zoo, aquarium, planetarium, and observation tower.
Powerpark in Kauhava will keep all ticket prices unchanged from 2023, with adult wristbands at €46 and children’s at €36. The park expects continued growth in Swedish visitors, aided by ferry connections between Umeå and Vaasa.
Tykkimäki is the sole park raising prices, with its standard wristband increasing to €46 (from €45) and its all-park pass to €55 (from €54). “This €1 adjustment reflects general inflation,” said Pilvi Serola, the park’s manager. Tykkimäki will also dismantle its 37-year-old Idän pikajuna roller coaster this season, replacing it with a new family-friendly ride.
Linnanmäki’s new €5 entry fee—waived for children under 3—has drawn mixed reactions. Some visitors with young children using free attractions have criticized the change, while others welcome it as a way to manage crowds on busy days.
Despite economic challenges, parks continue to invest in new attractions. Särkänniemi and Tykkimäki will debut family roller coasters this summer, with Särkänniemi’s 500-meter track replacing two older rides.
