Health authorities in the Faroe Islands are noticing an increase in the use of home COVID-19 tests, with many individuals confirming positive results. Bjarni á Steig, director of the Health Authority, stated, “We are interested in receiving reports to gauge the current infection rates in the Faroe Islands.”

Across neighboring countries, COVID-19 infection rates are on the rise, and the Health Authority is closely monitoring the situation in the Faroe Islands, considering both COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. This vigilance is essential for the healthcare system to optimize its operations.

In the past two weeks, no confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the Faroe Islands, according to data from the National Hospital’s research institute, which regularly updates the Health Authority. Furthermore, infection rates for other infectious diseases, such as whooping cough and influenza A and B, remain extremely low.

Bjarni á Steig emphasized the importance of community involvement, urging residents to report any suspected COVID-19 infections to the Health Authority via email at [email protected]. The report should include the following information:

– Name
– Address
– Phone number
– Date of birth
– Date of the confirmed COVID-19 infection
– Note: COVID-19

As authorities continue to monitor infection trends, maintaining open communication with the public remains a priority.
