Danish cocaine theft linked to Malmö shooting and Thailand murder
Swedish public broadcaster SVT reports that a large cocaine theft in Denmark may be connected to a fatal shooting in Malmö and a separate murder in Thailand earlier this year.
According to SVT, a 120-kilogram shipment of cocaine was stolen in Denmark at the end of last year. The drugs allegedly belonged to a Dutch criminal network. A relative of the 15-year-old boy killed in Malmö on Wednesday is suspected of involvement in the theft, as well as multiple violent crimes, Danish authorities say.
The same stolen cocaine shipment is also believed to be linked to the February killing of a 25-year-old Swedish man with gang ties in Phuket, Thailand. Police sources in both Sweden and Denmark have told SVT that the theft is a leading theory behind both murders.
A 15-year-old girl from the Stockholm area, already wanted for a separate murder in Vårby, is among those suspected in the Malmö shooting. The victim’s relative is reportedly connected to the Rumba criminal network, while the rival Foxtrot network is not believed to be the sole motive behind the killing.
