Faroese workers struggle with purchasing power despite official claims of improvement
The Faroese Confederation of Labour Unions (Verkafólk) has challenged government assertions that purchasing power has improved over the past five years, arguing that workers are still struggling to make ends meet.
According to the Faroese Council of Economics (Búskaparráðið), purchasing power has strengthened in recent years. However, Verkafólk disputes this, stating that while others may have seen financial gains, ordinary workers are exhausting their resources just to cover basic expenses, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The union federation emphasised that wage growth has not kept pace with rising costs, leaving many workers unable to save or manage unexpected expenses.
