A 30-year-old man has been remanded in custody for four weeks following a preliminary hearing in Aarhus. He faces charges of negligent manslaughter under aggravating circumstances after being involved in a hit-and-run incident early Sunday morning, where he struck a 24-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man at the intersection of Paludan Müllersvej and Hasle Ringvej.

After the collision, he continued driving but soon crashed into a traffic light, which forced him to stop. The woman suffered serious injuries and tragically succumbed to her wounds the following day. The prosecution has indicated that the man had a blood alcohol level of 1.59, along with traces of THC, the active compound in cannabis. He reportedly has no recollection of the events. “I’ve been trying for the last two days, and I can’t remember anything,” he stated.

Investigators have detected traces of blood on the car’s left fender, but a thorough technical examination of the vehicle is still pending. Furthermore, authorities plan to interview witnesses and seek potential surveillance footage from the area to assist in their investigation.

The charge of negligent manslaughter carries a possible penalty of up to 10 years in prison. Additionally, the man faces charges of reckless driving, driving under the influence, and failing to stop and assist the woman after the incident.
