In the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections in Iceland, a prominent figure from the Responsible Future party is advocating for greater autonomy for doctors in prescribing treatments, specifically the use of Ivermectin for a wider range of ailments than currently permitted. Johannes Loftsson, the party leader running in the northern Reykjavik constituency, emphasizes the necessity for physicians to have the authority to prescribe medications that they believe will benefit their patients.

Loftsson also calls for a thorough evaluation of the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He argues that understanding past actions is crucial before moving forward, as many individuals are still grappling with the aftermath of the crisis. “It is vital to reflect on these issues to avoid repeating mistakes and to ensure that the needs of those affected are addressed promptly,” he stated.

Additionally, the party plans to investigate the legality of the government’s interventions during the pandemic, including restrictions that led to economic sacrifices. Among other initiatives, they intend to examine the impact of the closure of a temporary runway at Reykjavik Airport and propose that the Icelandic government cease its involvement in arms purchases for Ukraine.

The party’s approach reflects a commitment to a more transparent and accountable governance model while engaging in vital health and economic discourse.
