Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s son Marius Borg Høiby faces multiple charges following police arrest in Oslo
The Palace has confirmed that they were notified by the police, which led to the Royal Household informing Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit about a potential arrest of Marius Borg Høiby. Reports indicate that Høiby was informed about the arrest of his mother, Crown Princess Mette-Marit.
Before the arrest, the Crown Princess reportedly cleared out her son’s home located on the Skaugum estate, where the royal family resides. Meanwhile, the Police Security Service (PST) has stated that they have no new information to share at this time. However, both the Oslo Police and the National Police Directorate (POD) have denied informing the Palace about the pending arrest.
According to a statement from Unni T. Grøndal, the press officer for the Oslo Police District, they solely notified PST’s security service and the situation center at POD. On August 4, at around 1 PM, the Oslo Police notified POD by phone regarding the situation. Subsequently, POD contacted the Crisis Support Unit in the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
Marius Borg Høiby is facing multiple charges, including bodily harm, property damage, threats, reckless behavior, and violating a restraining order against an ex-girlfriend. He is also accused of domestic abuse against two previous partners.
Høiby was arrested on August 4 at 4:10 PM, with police seizing his mobile phone, which reportedly lacked a SIM card and was partially damaged. Several police units and three government departments were notified in the hours preceding the arrest, as part of standard protocol.
