Lost cat found after two years

A black cat named Svarti Pétur has been found after going missing for two years, mbl.is reports, citing the Villikettir organisation on Facebook.

The cat had become a regular visitor to a Villikettir feeding station, where he often stayed for long periods and appeared to be extremely hungry.

His repeated visits attracted the organisation’s attention. Because cats that spend a long time at feeding stations are usually homeless, Villikettir caught him and scanned him for a microchip.

The cat was microchipped, allowing the organisation to contact his owner immediately. They learned that his name was Svarti Pétur and that he had been missing for about two years. His owners had lost hope of seeing him again.

Villikettir used the news to remind cat owners to have their pets microchipped, so they can be helped home if they go missing.
