The Mánagarður preschool is set to reopen on Tuesday following an E. coli outbreak that occurred last month. According to the preschool director’s letter to parents, arrangements have been made for outsourced meals from Skólamat, and it has been decided to waive all fees for November.

Yesterday, eleven children were hospitalized with E. coli at the Hringsins Children’s Hospital, four of whom were in serious condition in intensive care. The first child was discharged just two days ago. The outbreak has been traced back to mixed beef and lamb mince from Kjarnafæði. An investigation by Matís and the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority revealed inadequate handling of the meat during its preparation.

As the preschool prepares to welcome children back, authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, ensuring that safety measures remain a priority to prevent any further health risks.
