The negotiations for a new agreement between the Starvsfelagið, the Kommunala Arbeiðsgevarafelagið, and the Ministry of Finance have broken down. According to Per Martin Gregersen, chairman of the Kommunala Arbeiðsgevarafelagið, the time has come for a third party to examine the proposals that have led to disagreements.

The parties presented their demands on October 8, and since then, six negotiation meetings have taken place. Gregersen notes that the divisions between the parties stem from fundamental disagreements.

In response to the ongoing issues, Gregersen emphasizes the need for an external mediator to help resolve the contentious points.

For more context, an audio interview with Gregersen is available, where he elaborates on the situation and the challenges faced during the negotiation process.
